Review # 1 was written on 2015-04-19 00:00:00 Robert B Swink A nice enough story about a child making a birthday cake with animal helpers. Gentle and suitable for the very young but I find this sort of book too repetitive to read more than once.

Review # 2 was written on 2019-02-05 00:00:00 Rob Tallman Darling, sweet picture book filled with kindness. Both the story and the illustrations have a warm, gentle feel to them. The child could be a boy or a girl. The animals are adorable as they help gather ingredients for the cake (I'll leave it to whimsy that there's a monkey got there amidst the farm animals) and it's a nice message about giving, helping and then sharing the rewards of friendship -- and a yummy cake. (I suppose it's kind of the opposite of "The Little Red Hen") My son loved it and I'm glad it's the one we chose to purchase for his birthday book this year.
