Review # 1 was written on 2015-02-25 00:00:00 Kevin Potter personal response I think that this is a book full of great poems that capture every aspect of the storm. I like how the poems are all separate, but relate and are in the order of the events of a storm. The first poem starts with how you can tell a storm is coming and the last poem is about the rainbow that is produced afterwards. As a child, I was very afraid of storm and I think that this book would have helped me. This helps to see storms in a less scary and more beautiful way. I like how the illustrations are mostly made of dark colors until the end when there is a rainbow. purpose This would be a great read aloud book for grades k-2. It could be read during a break on a story day, or as part of a unit about weather. I think that it could also help to calm some students fears about thunder storms. The fun poems also provide information about the different things that happen during a storm and how they are produced, such as rain, fire bolts, and cloud bursts.The poems mostly have a positive tone, which helps to describe storms in a nice way. The poems use strong vocabulary such as, "horizon," "velvet," and "maestro."

Review # 2 was written on 2014-05-24 00:00:00 Takeshi Oikawa I enjoyed reading this selection of Sarton's work, and the included introduction by Bradford Daziel. The book includes a lot of poetry, excerpts from the journals, As We Are Now in its entirety, and the first chapter of A Reckoning. A good overview published before Sarton's death, and missing excerpts from the last two journals.
