Review # 1 was written on 2021-09-13 00:00:00 David Pedler Normally, beautifully-illustrated folktales are right up my alley, but this one was just odd. A naive and slightly gutless protagonist takes a gift from his village to the newly-crowned emperor, who seems to me quite undeserving of any gift considering hes going to chop off the peasants head if the gift doesnt please him. Pan Wu doesnt learn not to trust people who repeatedly trick him, and the emperor doesnt learn kindness. |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-03-29 00:00:00 Michael Perry Better for Chinese culture or grief over the loss of a loved one rather than textiles. |
