Review # 1 was written on 2007-06-27 00:00:00 Gilbert Lozano I first read this book in 1995 after recovering from a nasty bout of asthma which placed me in the hospital. I re-read the book in 2005 because I needed inspiration. It is a book written by two women, one older, one younger-both of whom had very personal and insightful anecdotes about life and how they overcame the obstacles in their paths. The first line of the book started out with the younger female author stating she spent most of the year throwing up due to her pregnancy. Most would find that nauseating, but it spoke volumes to me personally; as if I would relate (and did). At the time I saw where I had been, where I could be headed, and where I did not want to end up being. These ladies speak to you, not at you-which for me was needed, and entertaining. |
Review # 2 was written on 2010-07-26 00:00:00 Elvin Parson I picked up this book on the 25 cent shelf at the used book store at our library. It was one of those books where I read a chapter here and there, and although there was some insight and the authors' antidotes were entertaining for the most part, I would not say my life was changed one bit by this book. In fact, I don't like how the authors almost tell the reader to "settle" for what you have, and don't expect anything more. I will pass this book along, but I would not recommend buying it. |
