This excellent workbook is interesting and easy to understand. I originally ordered it to learn more about places in the world, but ended up knowing more details about ancient civilizations like the Sumarians, Greeks, and Romans. I also learned more about the Mongols, the Inca, and biomes like the Arctic Circle. Not included were Egypt, Australia, or Antarctica. I was also surprised that there wasn't coverage of the oceans. I think the coverage is random and limited in scope, but each particular area of study has a page of written history, a map with guiding keys and questions, and some research questions for future study. I liked learning about the North Pole and seeing how close Japan was to Alaska. The Soviet Union was an interesting study, as was Warsaw and NATO. I learned about the Treaty of Tortsilla, which gave most of the western hemisphere to Spain while Portugal got parts of China.

The standard text. Don't buy it new.
