This book provides a nice, visually-based and historically grounded overview of the several counties of what is now North Brevard County, Florida. There is not much consideration of precontact occupation of the area. Instead, the focus is largely that of documenting the transition from an agriculturally based (esp. citrus fruits) to a government-administered "space coast" centered at Cape Canaveral and the Kennedy Space Center. All told, this is a helpful orientation for visitor and new resident alike.

This book is full of photographs with captions that show and describe the history of Unity Village. I grew up a couple miles away from Unity Village, so it's interesting to finally learn the real history behind it, and to see how it has evolved over the years. It's a beautiful place to go visit if you ever have a chance.
