I like the illustrations in this book and the story is written in verse. I like this book, but for some reason I just don't think it's as good as it could have been. Once I got past the fact that these moonballs came from the moon after it sneezed (moon snot... or not) and I liked the premise that these moonballs were coming to earth to spread smiles and happiness. Only they come and spread all this happiness to inanimate objects... which would be ok I guess if they were more lovable inamimate objects than the chimney and plates and spoons and toothbrushes and even the toilet. But again the illustrations were charming and the verse very well written. It just didn't make my son say "that was a good book" when we were done reading.

1st-5th Grade Seeley used more detail than ever in her pages top to bottom pages of her magical moonballs. Every item in the house was given fun inviting smiles making the everyday households items personified. The colors are very solid and every shade of the rainbow. The text of the book has a nice rhyme and rhythm throughout the story. Each page also was numbered to make 40 pages filled with descriptive words of the household items being woke up from the moons sneeze. Also, there was a intro to start out the story to let the reader know that the moon was lonely and just wanted to smile on the world. The book is appealing to young readers because they can look at the moon and imagine the moon smiling at them. Astronomy Lesson Idea: draw picture of the phases on the moon.
