When was the last time you were compelled to chew your way through a story like a swarm of jungle ants? This is the book you’ll want eat alive. Never mind the exceptional narrator (In the audiobook version) whose voice and personalities perfectly fluctuate with each character, but the plot flies by at such a pace that you can’t stop listening. This is a triumph of literature and performance.

The first time I read this book was in 2008. It was life-changing. The characters never really left me and I am reminded, at times, of Leah, Rachel, Adah and Ruth May. This book is in my top 10 list and I guess always will be. It’s an eye-opening story into the exploitation of people by ruthless selfish people who will do anything in the pursuit of people’s souls and a country’s resources.
