Review # 1 was written on 2015-09-08 00:00:00 Adam Cook Just doesn't do anything for me. There are a couple of reasons why this book gets a poor rating from me. 1. It's dated. That's not the author's fault but at this point it is 20 years old and it just couldn't have foreseen the current work environment, etc. but it is a reason to not waste your time reading it now. 2. It is in a workbook form. Grrr... I don't need remedial thinking exercises - just talk to me like an adult... that is, if you have something to say. 3. I don't think the author really did have anything to say. I have worked from home a lot over the last five years or so and now have shifted to about 90% work from home, the rest being when I have to travel cross-country to be on-site personally. The author comes off as sounding like a housewife discussing how to balance interrupting kids while doing her 'at home work.' I don't know anything about the author and maybe this is more of the dated issue than anything else, but kids, spouse, interruptions are not my issue and shouldn't be for anyone who is working from home in this day and age. If that is your issue, you probably need to re-address if working from home is right for you in the first place. Read a more recent book on the topic. |
