Great primer on some of the phenomenal women who helped shape Oregon, and changed their communities for the better. And who often aren't recognized when we learn about history. The book has ten chapters, each one describing a famous Oregon women from its early history, mostly pre 1950s and many from Pioneer days. The author tries to do a good job of including a diverse line up. It does include an early Pioneer Native American who gets much less credit than sacajawea for also being a guide. Another is the first African American female police officer in the nation! There's not much of a racial equity lens in the actual writing, but the inclusion of non white women was great to see. Great, quick primer on some important female figures in Oregon history. Quick read. Made me wish we knew more about women in history.

This was a well put together book. I love that each chapter is a mini biography written from an unbiased opinion. It really did give a wonder view into the life of women in Oregon history.
