Review # 1 was written on 2008-10-29 00:00:00 Ray JONES To be fair, I'm basing this review on reading excerpts from Showy Lady Slipper, seeing a video of the first 20 minutes, and reading the full play of Boxing 2000. All I really have to say is PFFFFFFFFT. This is the sort of writing I loathe. I get it, Maxwell! Everything the characters say is flat and meaningless! People are boring and speech is peppered with "like"s and circular, senseless sentences! WELL, bucko, aren't you avant-garde? You sure are smart and innovative for having your actors speak loudly in a monotone and move very little. Is it a COMMENTARY on the apathy and flatness of modern society? Could you REALLY not find a manner to make this point that is actually compelling, or at the very least, interesting? |
