Review # 1 was written on 2013-08-31 00:00:00 Kumar Kusum Paige lays out the nonkilling project, which is new to me, distinct from nonviolence and a fruitful process for thinking about human society and conflict. If we take away killing as a part of political strategy, we can still imagine many ways to both constrain and promote human social development. An intersting aspect of Paige's argument is that we do not yet know if a nonkilling future is entirely possible, because most people are not committed to trying, and so we promote killing in uncountable aspects of our cultures. Even if you are ultimately unconvinced, the ideas will make you think in new ways.
