Review # 2 was written on 2009-12-18 00:00:00 William Hocker Very cute series about Kat a girl who just started seeing "ghosts". Her mother is a medium and now that Kat has turned 13 she discovers that she has the same "gift". In addition she meets Jac a cello prodigy. The book are charming and funny as each girl stuggles with the expectation of their particular gifts and the choices they want to make about accepting their talents. The girls don't realize this parallel, but the author sure does, but handles it with great subtlty. Kat is a lot of fun and her voice is fun and fresh. I hope this series becomes several books long. I'd love to recommend this to lots of the girls who like to read and have it readily availible to them. This is a wonderful book, that beneath all the "hook" of supernatural abilities is really about friendship and discovering oneself. Masterfully done for the target age audience.
