The average rating for The Pond (la Charca): Puerto Rico's Classic 19th Century Novel based on 2 reviews is 4 stars.
Review # 1 was written on 2021-10-04 00:00:00 Kevin Ross The Pond is basically the Puerto Rican “Les Misérables,” but Victor Hugo leaves you with a glimmer of hope for France and for the characters in the end. Not so in La Charca. This novel is a combination of beauty and brutality, as life was back then. Most defining quote: “In order to fear the prospect of death, one must first know what it is to live.” |
Review # 2 was written on 2021-03-02 00:00:00 Mitchrrr Foster This novel I know really suffered from this translation. |
