Review # 1 was written on 2011-11-08 00:00:00 Michael Mazes According to this book, the way I like to work is sick, sick sick, and I'll die in a gutter within the year from drinking way too much workohol. :( I'm not sure what to think about this. I'm not a crazy rushing around person who can't sit still and has to be doing something every minute. Far from it. That half of workoholism does not seem to apply to me at all. But I do have very high expectations and assign myself more work than is possible to complete in the time allotted, and I do keep working after I'm exhausted. I hope eventually he'll get to some useful advice for how to do better--case study after case study of f'd up overworkers is getting really dreary and making me even more tired. ... I've tried to press on, hoping there would be helpful advice on balancing your life, but when I read this book, I feel scared and ashamed. Fuck it, life is too short. Left off p. 102. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-09-18 00:00:00 Vicky Schulz This is the second book on boundaries that's from a patriarchal monotheist point of view, although this one doesn't jam it down your throat as much as the previous one, and this one actually has useful stuff in it. I think that imposing your religion on others is a violation of boundaries. There were also too many references to his other books. In other words, he was promoting them (you'll learn more about this if you read my book, so-and-so) in the midst of this book. |
