Review # 1 was written on 2012-06-19 00:00:00 Sam Breakstone I found this book while strolling along my local thrift store. I picked it up in hopes of finding maybe a few new tips on how to "life." Overall, it was a pretty nice read. The book reminded me of a 90's VHS educational video on the "Life Skills," and how to apply them. The book itself was very concise and to the point, and the authors really made some well engaged propositions on how to tackle different problems, like how to express emotions in the proper manner, how to set and protect personal boundaries, and even how to identify key points and make rational decisions in our every day life. Overall, it was interesting to dive into their world and see what professionals suggest should happen in different aspects of life, most of their reasoning being backed up not only with logic but with scientific data. I find it comforting to know that I have a book like this under my belt, to serve me not as a guide, but maybe even as the first stepping stone whenever I'm in doubt. The lessons found in here can easily be disregarded as common knowledge, but the authors make good use of their time and space in this book, setting out notions and shipping out their collective ideas as expert scientists in the field of human development.
