Review # 1 was written on 2010-04-27 00:00:00 Robbie Grant Although using bBASE for examples is a bit distasteful... :-) ..., Gary Entsminger clearly and gently introduces basic object concepts in The Tao of Objects, making the book a success I think. Back when object-orientation made zero sense to me, this book helped me start to understand what I was missing. Hopefully a newer(, even better) introduction to object-orientation is an option now; but even over 12 years after reading it, with all that's changed since then, I think this book could still competently introduce someone to the mindset. |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-02-25 00:00:00 William Valyo I read this book twenty years ago, at a time when I was making the switch from spreadsheets to databases and starting serious coding. This book is not so much a "how to do" book and more of a "how to think" book. It got me over the hump of an early learning curve and I haven't looked back. It was a great book for a total beginner to understand the basic concepts of object-oriented programming. |
