"The key test of whether something is sexist then lies in its consequences: if it supports male privilege then it is by definition sexist" (Johnson. 282) That was a part of this dictionary's section on sexism and basically says a lot about the kind of dictionary it is. This book is very Tumblr-like, it's pretty ahead of its time talking about the "patriarchy" holding women down, believing race to be a social construct, genders a social construct, you know all that SJW stuff. It's a pretty infuriating book because it fails to address the reverse side of many issues for example during the entry on prejudice and discrimination the book is talking about how prejudice of whites by black doesn't matter and shouldn't count because. "the consequences of prejudices aimed at minorities are very different from the prejudices aimed at dominant groups by minorities usually in self defense" (Johnson. 238) Overall the book is just an annoyingly progressive sociology dictionary and I'm disappointed this was the sociology book my professor assigned, I'm sure there's much better sociology books out there.

Too dry and not relevantly referential
