Review # 1 was written on 2021-01-02 00:00:00 Matt Bonkowski in process of reading this collection. just finished "a thousand clowns" which i first read in 1965. here to report that this man can write. his words/screen plays have NOT aged but rather have gathered patina. amazingly modern until i realize that human nature hasn't changed. the tech world has. but we are the same o' same o' ... herb gardner got his characters and their situations right the first time and the play stands the test of time. ah, human foibles. where would a good writer be without you?! (rhetorical question of course) |
Review # 2 was written on 2016-03-18 00:00:00 William Hawe I loathed this book. He "imagines" Shakespeare's life, with lots of talk about Shakespeare's feelings and opinions. It picks and chooses different scholars' varying theories about the details of Shakespeare's life and presents them as if they were fact. Bad, bad, bad. |
