When I began teaching, multiculturalism was a hot topic. Feeling as though I needed some help in this area, this is one of the resources I purchased. This book is the epitome of teacher resources. It's one of those books that looks good on the shelf, but isn't really useful. Sure, each page has a blurb about an ethnic holiday. Perhaps if one expected a student to just copy information, this would be handy. That's not how I approach things. Most of the holidays covered are obscure. There's little here. I am not certain why I have kept it.

I bought this book because I remembered loving the story as a child. I reread it because some of the details seemed fuzzy to me. I was surprised at how different the details were from my memory. The basic story line I remembered by the how of things were off. I still think it was a good book, and I would say this is a great book for youth. I still have fond memories of what I thought Terebithia looked like. I would recommend that parents have their children read it, I believe it would be a good starting point for a discussion on loss.
