Review # 1 was written on 2012-10-18 00:00:00 Edward Damptz I really liked this book because it had lots of really good information. I liked how it was layed out. My goal when I was reading this book was to increase my knowledge on sketching and drawing, and I think I definitely accomplished my goal. I liked that the author included lots of different way to do art such as, you can use a variety of utensils, there are lots of different ways to draw lines to express a certain mood, and there are lots different genres of art like landscape drawings and portrate drawings. The author included lots of pictures and drawings that helped explain the writing better. The author also included lots of images of the utensils, so if I wanted to try one, I would know what to look for in the store, and how to hold the utensil properly. I wish the author had included more step-by-step tutorials to help me learn to draw something easier. Throughout the book, I think the author really showed me that you can’t create something in half and hour. You really have to think about it and put time and effort into it. I would give this book four out of five stars because I wish it had more step-by-step tutorials, but otherwise, I really enjoyed this book, and I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in sketching or drawing.

Review # 2 was written on 2011-12-13 00:00:00 Ryan Hunt This book covers a very wide range of drawing techniques, how to use different media, and a range of subject ideas. It includes many full-color illustrations, and even step-by-step processes for creating a finished work in a given media. There is a lot of information (it's a good overview), but it does not give very specific information about any single topic. But, for a beginner like me, it has a lot of helpful tips and ideas.
