Dan Woog was covering LGBT issues in our schools years before anyone even dreamed of the, "it gets better," project or anti-bullying efforts. Love the subject and his courage in being open and honest. I wish he could have been more nuanced with his writing style.

I’m a real sucker for books about kids with gay parents. For obvious reasons. This book was delightfully in-depth, and covered a range of different reactions that kids have to a gay parent, whether it’s their own or others. Some of those reactions aren’t always kind, and I was glad this book took the time to give kids a script on how to deal with those. But I also think it was really nice to see that two kids in the same family can have totally different comfort levels with their gay parents. Plus I think it captured the feeling of shame and loneliness pretty well, as well as the joy of having a parent who’s living their true life. There’s a lot of mixed emotions around having a gay parent and this book did a really good job of portraying a whole range.
