Review # 1 was written on 2008-08-09 00:00:00 William Coates The collection shows an interesting spread of emotion and variance of lifestyle. One doesn't usually think about slaves writing love poetry and letters of longing. Valuable for the insight it gives, but can be a bit tedious to read straight through. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-08-24 00:00:00 Felice Marcos Wow. I learned so much from this book, such as "Don't get mad at somebody who knows more than you do; it ain't their fault." or "Never grumble. It makes you about as welcome as a sidewinder in a cow camp." But my personal favorite was, "A woman's heart is like a campfire. If you don't tend to it regular, you'll soon lose it." Truer cowboy wisdom has never been spoken. Thanks Mike Neumann, for educating me on the ways of the range. Wait, have you ever *been* on a range? ;) |
