Review # 1 was written on 2015-06-26 00:00:00 Bruce Armond The book is normal, kind of hard to read tho not too bad as it keeps going back to the comparison to agriculture markets. Author talks about how investing in people brings higher returns than assets therefore is better for the economy. And bases it with Indian economy’s growth, in agriculture and education sectors. Talks about the importance of health and education in the economy based with proof once again. This point is underlined extra as he keeps coming back to it, as he bases all most of his theses through out the book. In the end, he talks about how intervention from various agents(government, donors, etc) distorts the education market and research. However, now that I think about it who else is to thank for all that development in education if not the government. Overall, the book is a bit outdated in my opinion what to expect written by an almost 20th century economist he challenges even older theorems. However, it is still a great book fit for anyone with an interest for the economy and the development of its thought. |
