While billed as written by Fran Tarkenton, who was ranked #59 on The Sporting News list of the 100 Greatest Football Players (he played with the Minnesota Vikings and the New York Giants), it was ghost-written by my father (with Tarkenton's input as regards the sport), so I am unable to give it a review. But do read the blurb and decide for yourself whether it's a book you might like to read. And as in all his books, the reader is given all the clues -- no red herrings -- so as to solve the crime along with the detective. More on Tarkenton here:

Fran Tarkenton was a far better quarterback than he is a mystery writer, but still, "Murder at the Super Bowl" was a timely read, but overall disappointing. Tarkington, Hall of Famer who played mainly with the Minnesota Vikings, teams up with Herbert Resnicow to take advantage of one of America’s favorite TV shows: the Super Bowl (scheduled on world-wide TV this year on Feb. 2).It seems that the Brooklyn Wizards were, once again, assigned to the bottom of the league, the deep cellar, and coaches, players, and fans were not happy! But now, alas, and quicker than the QB can call a “quick count,” but some bizarre incidents (and a whole lot of luck during the regular season), and some good playing, too, brings them face to face with the Oregon Orcas in the biggest game of the year: the Super Bowl. But, time out here, penalty flags are being thrown. The Wizards’ head (and mean and nasty) coach “Magic” Madjeski has been found murdered…and the number one suspect is the star quarterback, who was about to be fired! Along comes up and coming reporter Marcus Aurelius Burr, who knows a crime when he sees one and starts the investigation and along the way out come the illegal betting schemes and other “assorted” activities. But overall this is a yawner—as one of our staff members said, “It’s like watching a 1-0 three hour soccer match or a baseball game!” But, again, timely. Our recommendation to Mr. Tarkington: stick to your day job!
