Review # 1 was written on 2021-09-13 00:00:00 Ginny Culberson Arizona Clan by Zane Grey; beautifully narrated by Gene Engene; first published in 1958. I finally made my way through this audio book. It just wasn't for me, but definitely well done for this genre, thus only 3*, but I can see why readers of old west type fiction have consistently rated it at 4* or more. It has everything you would expect from a handsome cowboy on a horse to a pretty rancher's daughter, six guns and with shoot-outs and outlaws mixed in. |
Review # 2 was written on 2018-08-13 00:00:00 Andre Ebeling Picked this up when we visited Arizona a couple of years ago, because it takes place in an area where we spent a lot of time, but I'm just now getting around to reading it. Grey is a legendary writer, but this is a lesser work filled with paper-thin characters, hokey dialogue, and an uninspired plot about warring families and the drifter who gets caught between them because of a pretty girl. The landscape descriptions are nice though and make me want to go back and visit Arizona again. |
