R.S. was a medical doctor and researcher into the causes typhus and other diseases of the times being from the turn of the 19th century until his death in the 1930s. of special interest to me was his visit to Veracruz Mexico with infected rats to study the typhus here, Many of the things he wrote about back then have not changed in the past 85 years. He had very strong opinions oN Religion, poverty , public health care, medical research, communism , drinking, and many other things, all of this and I still do not know his name. only the initials R.S. I am certain this was never a best seller. Darwin, in his letters, frankly declared himself an agnostic. for a reason that appears to me the strongest that can be advanced, But there arises the doubt , can the mind of man which has , as I fully believe, been developed from a mind as low as that possessed by the lowest animals, be trusted when it draws such grand conclusions?
