Okay I rarely ever read historical romances set back in the 1300's but saying that this one is from one of my favorite authors, well I had to try it. I was pleasantly surprised. Lael St. James (Linda Lael Miller) wrote an exquiste tale of love, duty and sacrifice set in the times of King Edward and the Black Prince. Gabriella Redclift is betrothed to a Sir Cyprian Avendall, whom she has only met once and does not care for. Her and her 2 sisters are living in a Monastery in Devonshire. Avendal is from Cornwall and is seeking a wife. Everything is set and she is traveling to Cornwall to be married to Lord Avendall. Morgan Chalstrey, Lord of Edgefield, hates Lord Avendall for something that happened years before. He has decided to abduct Lord Avendall's betrothed and hold her for a ransom and he does just that. Just one problem, Gabriella and Morgan fall in love. From the treachery of Avendall, to the war between England and France, this story will keep you entranced and entertained.

My lady Beloved - VG+ St. James, Lael (aka Linda Lael Miller)- second in series Sweet-tempered Gabriella Redclift has taken great pains to conceal how little she desires her marriage to Sir Cyprian Avendall. For, without the gold he offers, she cannot ensure her sisters' freedom to choose whether to wed or remain in the convent where they have all grown to womanhood. When, enroute to her wedding, Gabriella is kidnapped by Morgan Chalstrey, she's dismayed to find that, rather than rushing to her rescue, Sir Cyprian seems more concerned with the question of her compromised virtue. Furious, she considers a whole new future as an outlaw's woman - even though Morgan seems far more willing to share his body than his secrets or his heart. Very good read. It's unfortunate she only wrote two books in this series.
