Wanda Harold is a separated mother of 3 kids. She married her college love, Edward. Her dream come true has turned into a marriage nightmare when her husband leaves her for younger woman. Just when she thinks that her life is over and she will spend it alone, along comes Charles Budrow. Charles is a one of the good grapes on the vine; single man with a career, house, and God-fearing. this would be every woman's dreams except Wanda was not raised in a household that believed in God. Even still, you would think that Wanda could spot a good man in front of her; a good man that wants to be exclusively with her. Just when the smoke clears and Wanda does begin to see Charles as breath of fresh air, Edward comes back trying to rekindle what they had before. Will Charles be able to show Wanda the love that God, through a Christian man can give her, or will she go back to the hurt and pain given to her by her estranged husband; only to be placated by alcohol. Though very slow at first, Patrice Franklin makes sure she gives a great deal of background information on the lives of each of the main characters. The background was so extensive that it took away from the book in general. At first the reviewer considered this a bad thing, but later realized the rationale and reasoning behind it. The author succeeds in arousing a varying range of character emotion. Some you want to knock sense into, others you feel pity and sorrow for. Overall this is a great read that many may consider a good vs evil type tale. I would recommend this book to anyone that is a strong reader ages 16 and up.
