[When the first non-con scene happened I wasn't sure if it was real or a fantasy being played out. Initially, I was turned on, but as the scene progressed, I became more confused and angry about her situation in general. (hide spoiler)]

**2.5 stars** I went on quite a journey with this book today. It is a sex-filled, crazy hot story but with a very dark undercurrent. It features abuse and some really intense situations, not for readers who shy away from stories about intense trauma. I was alternatively horrified and enticed by the beginning of the story. I thought that the author really challenged me as a reader to understand this character and get into her head-space. I was actually thinking about giving this 3 or more stars until the second half of the story. Now, I think many readers would like the schmaltzy turn that the story took towards the end. Part of me loved the idea that Lindsey found a "knight-in-shining-armor" and someone who wanted her for more than just sex. However, I think that the romance aspect of the book was really underdeveloped. I honestly don't know why Zach was so taken with Lindsey, other than he wanted to save her. When Lindsey said she didn't know anything about Zach's family towards the end of the book, I thought that that was telling about how strangely one-sided their relationship was. I wanted more development between the two of them. Instead, their relationship felt rushed and turned so "harlequin romance", especially in the last few pages. I think this had the potential to be something really powerful but it feel short for me. I appreciate this author, however, for giving me books that make me think more deeply about a woman's sexuality. **Copy provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review**
