Review # 2 was written on 2014-07-08 00:00:00 Tom Jones This was an interesting read, to say the very least. Strickland collects a number of life stories/oral histories from PNW characters, everyone from loggers to fish thieves to homesteaders, and from that creates a kind of history of the region from the early 20th Century. These characters and stories are one-of-a-kind and deserve the memorial he gives them. Maybe not the best sit down to read as one collection, but it's good material for people interested in the region, time period, and, like me, who write fiction that takes place in this era. It's like a time capsule. |
