Review # 1 was written on 2012-03-03 00:00:00 Michael Depaepe Excellent book about Toledo's early mafia scene. I have a personal connection with the story so it was nice to read about what the author's POV is compared to the stories I listened to growing up.

Review # 2 was written on 2013-05-09 00:00:00 David Hoelscher Growing up in Toledo, I never knew the rich history surrounding this city and the Prohibition Era. This city may as well been ground zero. To hear of the almost mythical characters like Jack Kennedy and Yonnie Licoveli and read about important and pivotal locations of murders, houses and events (locations I have grown up near and around and have been a million times) was truly, truly fascinating. The only criticism of the book is that there are many grammatical errors (lack of proper punctuation, mostly) which makes reading it a bit challenging at times, luckily, it is not a too-common occurrence. The author himself made himself very accessible to me to ask questions and gain clarity. How awesome is that? I truly loved reading it. As a history teacher in the area, I plan on citing in many times in my classroom. Highly recommend if you're into mobsters, gangsters and prohibition.
