This book desperately needs a competent copy-editor or proof-reader. So many typos and easily avoidable mistakes. The way each chapter started with a list of learning objectives and then reiterated them at the end of the chapter as summary points made the book feel like a textbook even though everything else points to it being an analytical text. Either way, it seemed extremely condescending and annoyed me. Overall this is interesting, even if rather outdated now, in terms of the way it considers public health and the behaviours that impact on that. There was a fair bit of government criticism in terms of their willingness to side with the interests of big business over what's best for the people, though I realise that this at least partly shows the bias of the authors as they only mention it in some cases and not in others where they merely accept the government's recommendation. I found this interesting, but it's definitely on the dry side and won't appeal to everyone.
