Boring text, but I loved the pictures. Seriously, this is a decent biology textbook. The chapter on cellular respiration was horrible and over-simplified, and one of the pictures has a mistake that confused me for hours until my prof clarified in class that the picture is wrong. There's also a picture of a bacon cheeseburger that is slathered in mayo, and the caloric content is stated as 400 calories?!? The periodic table of the elements was worthless and was missing major information. But overall it's a good text for learning the basics of biology for those intending to go into a medical field; many of the "real world" examples have to do with the pathology of diseases such as cancer and sickle cell anemia.
