Pungo Creek is one of those books that will call to you from your nightstand, just after you turned off the light, pleading, "One more chapter." This heartbreaking tale about growing up in the segregated Baptist South illustrated beautifully how people often grow up to posses the same demons of the generations before them. Some reviews I have read criticized the lack of thorough editing. Although typos are present, it was easy for me to look past them and trust the author. Oftentimes, these typos made the novel seem more like a journal, which made this reader feel as though I had stumbled upon a diary in an abandoned cabin, hidden long ago. I enjoyed how the author focused on the women of each generation, their relationships with each other, and how they found power in a culture where women had none. I highly recommend this book, and look forward to reading other works by Brenda Mantz.

* بریده ای از کتاب * . گناه هایی که مرتکب می شیم ، داغون مون نمی کنه، این که بعد ارتکاب شون چه غلطی می کنیم ترتیب مون رو می ده.
