This book has proven invaluable in my research for “Once Upon a Time in Iowa.” While it didn’t answer all of my questions, it answered many of them and points me in the right direction for those left unanswered.

4 Stars! ~ When Luke Banning left Trillium Island eleven years ago with Audra Conlan on the back of his motorcycle, Ali was heartbroken, esp. as he hadn’t even said goodbye. Ali had finally made up with her sister last year, admitting that she knew Luke had only given her a ride to the ferry that would start her on her trip West and that Luke had gone East to New York. Well, Luke Banning has certainly made a name for himself; he’d proven to everyone that had once looked on him with pity that he was worth something. Of course, Ali had known all along that Luke would succeed; he’d always been pigheaded enough to get what he wanted. Ali, Audra and their brother Dane had purchased the hotel-resort on the Island and they needed an investor so they could expand the resort with a golf course, ideally another islander. It was Audra’s idea to ask Luke; in fact, she’d already been filling him in on their plans. So when Luke showed up, riding a Harley, it was as if a page from Ali’s past had come back to life. But surely the past could just stay in the past; that’s what Ali tried to tell herself. This is one of the best reunion stories I’ve read. Luke is droolishious, and often comical too. Once he sets his mind on Ali, he's not about to back away; it’s that pigheadedness. Ali struggles very hard to keep those feelings from eleven years ago all locked up. It was a lot of fun watching them stumble back together. This is one of those sweet stories that make you believe in HEA’s.
