Review # 1 was written on 2008-05-14 00:00:00 Christy Kilgore Have you ever heard of the underground railroad -- the network of humanitarian, and like-minded people who helped slaves escape during the United States Civil War? Did you know that today there is a network like it for dogs? Deborah Eades is a volunteer transporter for the Dog Rescue Railroad, and her book, "Every Rescued Dog Has a Tale" tells the stories of some of the dogs that were rescued from death row at dog pounds across the country, and how they were transported to safety and new forever homes. The stories are short and accompanied by photos of the dogs. Suitable reading for tweens to adults, one of the best things about this book is that proceeds from its sales benefit various humane groups. |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-01-10 00:00:00 Jorge Romero I remember well reading this book and wondering what motivates this woman (the author)to be out on the road at night, alone in her car, with her dog passenger? As the series of true stories continued, I learned of the multitude of abused and suffering dogs who are rescued only through the dedicated, caring efforts of dog lovers. As Deborah Eades shared her experiences, including the usually happy outcomes, I came to understand the motivation and rewards. This book will touch the heart of dog lovers. Robert |
