"Tokyo: Pet shop of Horrors, Vol. 2" is a horror graphic novel. This volume is a continuation of Vol. 1 of the manga series. In this edition, the owner of the building, Woo-Fei, is concerned about Count D's pet shop sales. Woo-Fei has heard that client's pets turn into humans in the middle of the night, and is convinced that Count D is selling slaves. Throughout the story, Woo-Fei is constantly looking for some way to frame Count D. In addition to this part of the story, other chapters follow certain characters looking for pets to help solve their problems. I really liked this next volume. I thought it was interesting to see how Count D and Woo-Fei's relationship played out in certain moments. For example, the two go on an expedition to look for the mythical kappa. After not finding one, Woo-Fei begins to loose motivation to keep looking. Seeing Woo-Fei upset, Count D asks "Why do you decide so quickly that creatures in folklore do not exist?" I liked how this moment defined a critical difference in Count D and Woo-Fei's characters by defining what each of them believes in. I would recommend this book to anyone who has read the first volume of the series. Someone who picked this up without reading the first volume could understand it though. However, you do meet the characters in the first one. This volume mostly develops the characters.

I was actually kind of surprised at how much I enjoyed this volume and how easy it was to get drawn into each story. Often, Pet Shop of Horrors can somehow be too slow for me, although I'm not even sure that's the word. I also enjoyed that there was actually at least one story that ended happily (somewhat, at least). I like getting to see a new, different character come to terms with Count D and his shop as well.
