Ideally, this would have 3.5 stars. If you're someone like me who avidly researches equine education and keeps up with its advancements, there will be no new information here (and they left quite a few programs out, which was a disappointment. Perhaps an update will be in order in a few years.) That being said, this is the perfect reference book for a parent or trainer to have on hand. Even a school counselor or child psychologist would benefit from having it in their library, ready to show to aspiring equestrians. It provides a fair amount of information on each school, along with websites and valid phone numbers. It even has a section for international schools.

--- Read this and reviews of other classics in Western Philosophy on the History page of www.BestPhilosophyBooks.org (a thinkPhilosophy Production). --- Not only the first female professional writer of her time but also arguably the first feminist writer, Christine de Pizan is perhaps best known for her utopian masterpiece, The Book of the City of Ladies. However, readers should begin by reading this, her major political work. Reminiscent of both Plato's Republic and Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics, and a precursor to the social contract theories of Hobbes and Rousseau, Pizan takes up the necessary education of different segments of the population, from princes to common folk, in order to create the best civil society possible. Written in times of great tumult in Medieval France, the work expresses a longing for stability, peace, and enlightenment that will resonate with many today.
