Review # 1 was written on 2016-09-16 00:00:00 Jason Dainty Well, it's a lot of information --- some of it helpful --- but it's delivered in a very dry style. Hard to read and keep one's focus. |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-09-11 00:00:00 Donald Thompson This is a textbook, so naturally it was very dry and information-heavy. Additionally, I find measurement and assessment to be a rather boring topic. However, it is an important topic that is integral to teaching. Therefore this was a very useful text, and it should be noted that it was very well-written. This text covers topics such as the role of measurement and assessment in teaching, its context and uses, the foundations for assessment, what kinds of assessments there are as well as what purposes they serve, and the reliability and validity of assessments. It also goes into specifically when and how to perform assessments, as well as practical information on how to construct fair and well-written tests. I found this text to be both broad enough and specific enough, which makes it very useful. Again, it might be boring, but it's great information presented in a highly satisfactory manner. |
