Domoto was a young servant helping bring up an aristocratic family's children, but they lost their money and had to let the staff go. Years later, daughter Choko gets an entry-level office job, and her manager turns out to be Domoto. He makes this way more awkward than it has to be. I'm not sure why the author felt the need to add the whole workplace-sexual-harassment theme to what could otherwise have been a cute is somewhat banal romance between the two. This inappropriate behavior doesn't fit with either the loyal-family-retainer background or his professional persona. At least he wasn't too handsy, and she developed some backbone before the end. |
