Okay, I think this cover is hysterical for Haruna ^^, very fitting for Asami. Some other reviews talk about the series end which should have been volume 6. I don't know, I think we get some really fun stuff afterwards - but then I like Kimi ni Todoke which also explores the fact that just an admission of mutual love is not automatically a HEA. I REALLY liked the storyline with Yoh having a cold and being nursed by Haruna and then a small vice versa. The best thing was that because Yoh had admitted out loud he loved Haruna, the fact that she's seeing him weak and he's more emotionally open than usual basically leads to her pressing him down on the bed and really wanting to kiss him (although she asks him for permission first, heh) - LIKE A SHOUJO PRINCE FORCING HIS DESIRE ON THE MAIDEN OR THE PRINCE KISSING SNOW-WHITE! A reverse of those typical renai boys, hah! That scene is so cute because they both get nervous and bumble it the first attempt, heee. It's really clear in this volume that Yoh is much more open to actually talking about his feelings because his trust in Haruna is now unshakeable. Now the NEXT chapter.... well... it is effective. And also fricking abusive of Fumi. Asami gets impatient because Fumi won't move on her and so she decides to find other boys to play around with. I don't like it because the chapter abuses Fumi and also because Asami agin gets emphasized as a selfish bitch. She knows by now, that Fumi is in her pocket - he's just as direct and one-minded as Haruna so he can't conceive of not loving her, but he doesn't suit her image of a boyfriend, so she starts screwing around. It's probably realistic but it doesn't make for fun reading. Haruna tries to keep her from destroying the relationship, and that gets Yoh dragged in, too. Fumi does get a lovely scene to show off his out-of-control power state in when he goes on a rampage for Asami and there's a cinematic kiss involved at the end (which Yoh then imitates and completely flattens Haruna with ^^), but the storyline really should have been scrapped. It does NOT lead to any new insights for any of the people involved (well, except that Fumi has a limit? But since he's not used as a character much otherwise...), at least not the main couple. Aside: There is a fun bit of comedy though, when Asami uses her wiles on Haruna in the same way she does on Fumi, to see if they work (in the correct assumption that Haruna is exactly the same type of person as Fumi in emotional nature) because Fumi doesn't react as expected. And Haruna feels this desperate urge to kiss Asami ^^. The last chapter leads into Yoh's final year at school and the three new freshmen of whom really only two will add something to the storyline in the following volumes, but who meet Haruna and get interested in her (she helps welcoming the freshmen as a sophomore) - none of their storylines is that great actually, I think. But there's a lovely bit of realising that since Yoh is more relaxed he's really popular with the freshmen girls and Haruna pledging she'll up her game to be his number one girl, heeheheh. And Yoh deciding they'll cut the whole process short by going home hand in hand, basically declaring themselves.

Wow...Yoh's sister Asa is a total bitch. Yep, I'm back to hating her now. She was terrible in the first few volumes and then she got a bit better, but now she's back to her bitchy roots. I don't think I could dislike a character so much. Poor Fumi! I don't know why he puts up with her. She's so self-centered and she's always talking about how cute/wonderful/amazing she is that it makes me want to puke. I can't believe what she put Fumi through this volume. I felt terrible for him, but I was also outraged that he let her treat him like that. I'm not trying to be insensitive, but she kinda got what was coming for her with the rich high school boy. Then, afterwards, the author tried to make Asa's actions ok because of blah blah blah (insert crappy reasons here). There's no excuse for her being such a witch. Rant aside, I'm not exactly sure where this series is going now. There was the introduction of all these new students, but I'm confused as to what's happening next. I love Haruna and Yoh, but I must admit that the guy that helped her with the boxes was pretty cute!
