MY GOD THE ART FOR THIS STORY IS JUST AMAZING!!!! I love Noizi Ito! (BEST ANIME ARTIST OUT THERE!) I'm probably paying more attention to the art of Shakugan no Shana because Noizi Ito was the artist for Haruhi Suzumiya (not the manga but the anime and the bits of art in the books). (Why....Why didn't Noizi Ito design the characters for Shakugan no Shana in the ANIME??) Oh well. Moving on to the review!!! I love Shakugan no Shana! And I have to say, what attracted me to the story was probably the art. I love this plot line. I love the story! And the characters are pretty lovable too! What you might find in this series is: -Suspense (the kind you find in action manga/anime) -Romance (a little bit of it. It's not the main, main part of the story, but it's there.) -Action (swords, demons to slay, slayers of demons, blood, eh-ti-cuh) -Comedy (there's a TINY bit of that, too) -Originality (flame hazes, torches---things you probably won't find in any other story but Shakugan no Shana) All this stuff really makes watching the anime worth while, because action looks pretty good in anime. And it's REALLY ORIGINAL. And I have this love for original things. WHAT AN ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT IDEA!!! The thing is that I'm not very good at reading action manga. Things like Inu Yasha and Naruto--I'd rather watch the anime. (Yup, another situation where Theresa would rather watch TV than read books.) But this really is a good story! It's very interesting and the art is really pretty and both guys and girls would like this manga. The thing is that the rate of Shakugan no Shana manga being released in the US is REALLY, REALLY, REALLY SLOW. They're taking FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER to release these things. I mean I think they released Volume 5 three years ago. And it usually takes around 3 months between each Volume of manga when it's released. (That's basically kind of why I've been watching the anime more than reading the manga...) But anyway, it's really a good story. Really recommended to action/demon lovers!

Shakugan no Shana is about a boy by the name of Yuji Sakai, who finds out he is already dead. He is the remnants of the real Yuji Sakai, a Torch. His Torch, however, hasn't burned out yet because of the rare treasure tool deep inside him, called Reiji Maigo. Before all this happens, a girl names Shana pops into his life. Now Shana must fight to protect the Mistes from Crimson Denizens, trying to taking the treasure tool within Yuji! In this volume, Yuji struggles to understand the strange world he has been thrust into, his relationship with Shana, as well as his own mortality. Shana, conversely, tries to adapt to the human world while protecting Yuji, the treasured Mistes.
