Alaska's Sky Follies: The Funny Side of Flying in the Far North by Joe Rychetnik is a collection of anecdotes about mishaps and near disasters he experienced flying with bush pilots in Alaska during the 1960s and '70s. The author had a wide variety of jobs, from journalist to state policeman, that required him to travel around the state frequently, so he had ample opportunity to meet and fly with most of Alaska's bush pilots. A strong emphasis is on the independent nature of many Alaska bush residents and veteran pilots. Recommended for small-plane pilots or avid fans of all things Alaskan.

A lot of fun, a collection of short stories about bush pilots and flying in the great state of Alaska. I liked how the author lauded the talents and personalities of the pilots and characters he meets and underemphasis his own role in the story. He writes with irreverence about the perils and reverence about the characters he flew with. Sometimes you just need to read candy. This book is it.
