Two stories. Both pretty disappointing. Not sure which was written by which author, but I have to wonder WHY does Hannah Howell like to stab her heroines??? Is it really necessary to the story? To me it's pretty gross and didn't add anything to the plot. Hemming the idiot and Brona the unlucky & Tearlach the dweeb and Lucy the unlucky. So First off, Hemming and Tearlach are Scottish vampires and get jumped by anti-vampire creeps outside an Inn. They are both rescued by their lasses (that was the good part of the stories), and then it's a game of cat and mouse to elude the bad guys' search parties. The stories are told separately although they happen in the same timeline. I thought Tearlach was pretty darn unromantic and useless. Hemming was better, but still pretty stupid. The writing of both stories felt lazy with very poor world building. Gaping holes in logic you could drive a truck through. I'm a little peeved as i went and bought the next two books at the same time as this one. Foolish me.

Both shorts are an utter waste of words, nearly anything else would be a better allocation of your time. They're readable enough though, so they get an extra star for not being Actively Awful, despite the incessant repetitive writing. Though surely passively bad is more than enough.
