| Review # 1 was written on 2016-03-30 00:00:00 Gerren Hart Really great read for budding criminologists, lawyers and police officers. Very insightful look into how crime works, how to respond to crime and how to prevent crime. It has excellent ideas that haven't really been adopted - but should be. Very interesting chapters on preventing violence against women, how to keep kids away from crime and prolific ways to allocate money from more police and institutions towards scientifically proven social inclusion programs. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in looking for WORKING programs for mentoring inner city kids and the like. Ian Waller is a very forward thinker and his book really reflects that. At the same time, I didn't like when he just interjects his personal experience by adding who he's worked with on various project. It seems petty and boastful. And worse, he doesn't come off nearly as objective as he should for this book to truly be taken seriously. |
