Review # 1 was written on 2018-03-16 00:00:00 Cassandra Williams Not a useful book. The author shows fundamental kicks that are poorly illustrated and poorly described and often badly executed. His "wheel kick"seems identical to the outside crescent kick that follows it. He describes the arch of the foot being used as a striking surface for the front kick. His blocks and other hand techniques are shown in self defense applications that wouldn't work against attacks that are never thrown. It's safe to say no attacker, ever, has thrown a simultaneous kick and punch as depicted on page 81. EVER. Yet this attack keeps popping up in Tae Kwon Do books. And nobody spars like the book depicts. Avoid it. |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-02-05 00:00:00 Rodney Abbiw This book does a good job of going over the how & what to do for various moves. It does not however delve into the why or discuss what not to do. I do refer to it for the "forms" to refresh my memory. This is volume 2 of a 2 volume set. |
