Review # 1 was written on 2013-10-09 00:00:00 Richard Taylor I read this in preparation for a trip to the Greek islands. Many of the tales take place on the islands, capturing the austere beauty of the sea, mountains and olive groves. A big variety of approaches to Greek culture and society include many mystical references, both pagan and Orthodox. There is a big emphasis on food--and the irrationality of rural culture, sen from the eyes of foreigners.

Review # 2 was written on 2008-11-13 00:00:00 Don Hill Well researched and reliable The Rough Guide to the Greek Islands has been my unmistaken guide to the greek archipelago for many years. I still find the information in it relevant today, and use it for background cross-reference during my trips. I think, when, in our fast changing world, it eventually becomes obsolete, it will still stand out as a travel snaphot of the decade.
