Review # 1 was written on 2020-06-29 00:00:00 Victoria Wyatt Actually, the blurb should acknowledge that there are two poems for Sunday, too. Anyway, Ness's art outshines the poems. They are wonderful, though. This would surely have been a very important book when it was new, and it is now, and I do like all the Everett Anderson stories. Unfortunately this does have one image in which the boy is wearing an "Indian headdress"... it has no bearing on the poem so it really doesn't signify, but it may make some readers uncomfortable and I have no idea how to use the book in the classroom given that image. But I do recommend this book for loving families. |
Review # 2 was written on 2019-06-26 00:00:00 Louis Brickhouse I though that this was and is a great book. I love books that are poems. This book is an easy read and good for read alouds. Children can relate to little Everette because he is a six year old boy himself and tells how he spends his time. |
