Still stunned. Unless you're a miracle-focused Christian, "The Journey" is unlike any other book you may have read. It is brief and clearly written in two parts. Still, if you start at page 1 you may drop the book as religious drivel - that would be a mistake. Start with Part 2, and read a concise history of Wernher von Braun and the machinations of the Nazi liquid-fueled rocket program including it's move to underground facilities built by slave labor where Zyklon-B would have been a blessing to the workers. Camp Dora was the most evil of the evil concentration camps: a one-million square foot facility carved out of rock by hand to build V-2 rockets. In summary, exhausted and injured, Private Galione walked for 5 days by himself without sleep following train tracks and discovered the hidden camp. In April 1945, military units were bypassing camps on their slow march to Berlin. Galione found Dora, fixed a broken jeep and rushed back to his unit. The sergeant elected to rescue the prisoners and requested 3rd Armor Division support. The rockets were found and lives were saved. Furthermore, finding military operations at camps motivated the Pentagon to liberate the camps asap. Because Dora was in the Soviet Zone, if Galione had arrived later, Braun and the equipment would have gone to the Soviets who knew of the program. Only the Soviets would have had ballistic missiles in the 1950s. Not good for the US. An affidavit substantiates the key fact of the story, and I haven't found any evidence online contradicting the events. Yet the story isn't just about the rescue, but about miracles in the Galione family life that allowed Galione, who wasn't in the right place move to the right place and persevere. Read the chapter "The Complete History Reveals the Hand of God," then read Part 1. In her Christian viewpoint, Mary Nahas, Galione's daughter, sees God's hand move in history to save and motivate her father and her. God, through Jesus, identified Galione decades before the war for this purpose. In other words, this isn't a conventional war story. Keeping one's mind open may yield riches. Certainly, Galione's role, which hasn't been denied is one worth knowing. One seemingly everyday person can change the arrow of history. Thank you Mr. Galione for your service, your gallantry, and your honor.

This was an excellent book and an excellent story. Everyone should read this to get a better grasp of history and understand how God has had His hand on America.
